Dear my fellow Californians:

Our educational system is proven to be one of the best in the world.  If I compare our educational standard of the places that I have been in Africa, Middle East, and Europe, I guarantee you that our educational quality is the best.  As we all aware, students all over the world come to get their education in our country.  I, myself, studied my higher education in America and I proud to be twice on Dean’s list.  Hence, I wouldn’t send my children to any other place for their education except here in America.  My daughter is enrolled in a gifted and talented class.  Sometimes, I wonder how this little girl on third grade can take and absorb this overwhelming and extensive information.  She is learning a lot at her age.

Therefore, that is why I want to emphasize that our schools are the greatest and we have the best teachers in the world, but their nonstop efforts are not fully recognized.  I, myself, was a teacher and I would like to point out that the college that I was teaching got a grant to train us with the latest classroom technology.   Then, I remember vividly how confident I was to pass easily the newly acquired knowledge to my students.  Therefore, I will try all my best to do the same to train our teachers and equip them with needed knowledge in order to be confident and ready to do what they know the best.

I would like to accentuate that some of the candidates for Superintendent of Public Instruction, their term is about to end in their current positions and it seems that they are seeking another office just to continue their career no matter what office is vacant.  Some of them are more than 10 or 17 years in office.  Therefore, they are the problems because the latest studies indicate that California still rank at the bottom in the nation such as pupil-teacher ratio.  Obviously, the solution is not to reelect these career politicians over and over. IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.

I am running for Superintendent of Public Instruction.  Please join me to save our schools, students, and teachers

YES, WE CAN.

The Facts

As you may be aware, in California presently we have 6.3 million students and we rank 29th state in per student spending.  Los Angeles County is one of the 58 counties in California and is the same size of Connecticut State which ranks the 3rd state in per student spending in the nation.  The point is why are we spending below the national average in educating our own kids in California?   Why does Sacramento not adopt a viable program to match at least the national average level in California?   Our kids are our future scientists, politicians, doctors, nurses, teachers, law enforcements, musicians, and athletes and after all they need our help now.

Furthermore, California ranks 49th state in student-teacher ratio and California schools suffer more staff shortage than any other state.  In the last few years, we had slow enrollment and now it is projected an increase enrollment starting in 2010 and having fewer staff and spending less per student will hurt our kids’ education.   All above cited policies are not going to help California educational procedure if we do not act now.   In addition to that tribulation borrowing money from school funds made the situation worst.   So far, our state elected officials including our senators and assemblymen do not focus more attention for the problems that California is facing in education predicament.

Startlingly, California dropouts are 3.3 percent and both Connecticut and New Jersey are 1.8 percent each.  There is no correlation between spending less in per student and dropouts, but there is a trend here and we know that New Jersey and Connecticut rank the first and third respectively in per student spending in the nation and have the lowest dropouts in the nation. Then, if we increase our expenditure per student it will help to solve more problems. Unfortunately, in 2005, 80 percent of California inmates were dropouts and we spent $35,000 for each inmate per year.

We could have used that money for prevention and recovery programs.  I will treat dropouts one of my highest priorities because 3.3 percent is a high number since we have the highest student population in the nation.

The Problem

Unfortunately, we created career politicians in Sacramento putting them from one office to another after their term ended and still we have shortage of teachers and high dropouts.  It is time for change.  Our forefathers intended that every citizen get a chance to serve the public.  I am ready more than ever to be our next Superintendent of Public Instruction to increase per student expenditure, hire more teachers, and reduce dropouts drastically.  When I am elected, in my spare time, I will help students and tutor them or teach math using my classroom experience.

In Conclusion,

I am ready to implement all necessary methods by using my economics and statistical knowledge, skills, and ability to tackle and find solutions for our school main problems ahead of time.  My strategy is to reduce administration staff, all bureaucracy expenditures by hiring more teachers and close the gap between student-teacher ratio and finally using that savings for training and improvement.  I will strive to reduce the dropouts by increasing resources.  There are several factors causing dropouts and I am ready to handle these problems first day in office.  Moreover, students, parents, and teachers play a major role in our education system.  It is imperative to work with them to build a strong relationship between them to fight against dropouts and other problems.  I am a member of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and will work hard to build that relationship.  Please join with me to make California education number one in the nation and the world.   YES, WE CAN.

Please register to vote and I would appreciate your vote on June 8, 2010.
